Tottenham are considering a move for Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze after failing to reach a breakthrough with Nottingham Forest in talks for Brennan Johnson.
Ange Postecoglou wants to add another attacking option to his squad before the deadline and Spurs have been weighing up moves for a number of names.
Nottingham Forest forward Johnson had been a leading target for the north Londoners, but Forest’s valuation in excess of £40m has put off Spurs, who are now looking at alternatives.
Eze has emerged as an option according to the Independent, though would command a fee of around £60m-£70m. Manchester City also considered the 24-year-old earlier in the window, before turning their focus to Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes.
Eze scored 10 goals in the Premier League last season and earned his first senior cap for England in March. The midfielder has started the new season in fine form and came off the bench to provide two assists as Palace came from two goals down to beat Plymouth in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday evening.
Spurs had also been linked with a loan move for Barcelona winger Ansu Fati, but the Spaniard is now closing in on a move to Brighton. The Seagulls have reached a verbal agreement to sign the 20-year-old on loan for the campaign.
