Tottenham are ready to rival Bayern Munich in the race to sign Conor Gallagher from Chelsea before the deadline.
Ange Postecoglou wants to add another midfielder to his squad and Spurs will target Gallagher, whose future at Chelsea has been the subject of speculation following heavy investment in midfield this summer.
Gallagher has started all four games under new manager Mauricio Pochettino and captained Chelsea during their 2-1 win over AFC Wimbledon in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday evening, but could be allowed to depart following the arrivals of Moisés Caicedo, Lesley Ugochukwu and Roméo Lavia for a combined fee just short of £200m.
The Guardian are reporting that Spurs and Bayern Munich are interested in Gallagher, who is valued at around £50m.
Spurs are currently looking to offload Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg before launching a move for Gallagher and the Denmark international has been linked with Manchester United.
Meanwhile, former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is keen to reunite with Gallagher at Bayern Munich, though faces a fight to convince the Blues to allow the 24-year-old to leave on loan.
Bayern have also registered interest in Fulham’s Joao Palhinha.
