Manchester United have confirmed that Lisandro Martinez will be out of action for ‘an extended period’ after suffering a foot issue.
The Argentina international is expected to miss around two months, having aggravated the problem which curtailed his debut campaign with the Red Devils in April.
The club have released a statement confirming the World Cup winner’s absence, while Sergio Reguilon is also set to miss this weekend’s Premier League clash with Crystal Palace at Old Trafford. Sofyan Amrabat could again deputise at left-back having started the win over Burnley last weekend in the position.
There was better news on the fitness of Christian Eriksen and Scott McTominay, with the midfield duo in contention to feature against Palace.
“We have seen some players back on Tuesday and for tomorrow, some players that were out of the squad on Tuesday,” Erik ten Hag said at his pre-match press conference.
“Scott McTominay and Christian Eriksen, they are back.”
Antony is also available for selection after the club confirmed the winger will return to first-team training, having been given extended leave in the wake of allegations of domestic abuse against the winger from a former partner.
“On Saturday, he will be back in training, so tomorrow. I have to see, but I think, yeah [he’s fit].”
