Jurgen Klopp has promised Liverpool will ‘give absolutely everything’ in the Premier League title race.
Liverpool face Brighton in the Premier League this weekend and will move top of the division, temporarily at least, if they avoid defeat at Anfield.
The Reds currently sit second in the table, behind Arsenal on goal difference, and with Manchester City a point behind the top two in third.
Liverpool’s title rivals meet in a huge showdown at the Etihad on Sunday and Klopp will be hoping his team can take advantage of dropped points for at least one of the contenders this weekend.
Klopp’s side will be aiming to bounce back from their dramatic FA Cup defeat at Manchester United before the international break and the German has promised his team will ‘give absolutely everything’ across the run-in in their pursuit of the Premier League.
Asked on the key thing his team must do across the season’s final weeks, Klopp told a pre-match press conference: “Give absolutely everything and ignore the mess you (the media) try to create after every game. After each game you say ‘you won it, you lost it, now you are champion, now you are out, now you have no chance, now you have do this’. Just ignore that. Just dig in and go.
“We have to give everything in each and every game. Home and away. It’s all tricky and everybody needs luck with injuries, we didn’t have it until now but hopefully the boys are coming back. We need them. Then it’s about finding a way to win the game.
“We have found a way which is good for us to play. Before the break we had games against Manchester City and Manchester United, and in parts of those, we played some of our best football of the season.
“Now we are back. I would love to say we are reenergised but the boys had games. We play on Sunday but that’s enough time to recover [from the international break] and now let’s go.”
