Christian Eriksen is set to choose between Manchester United and Brentford, with both clubs having tabled offers for the midfielder.
Eriksen is set to become a free agent when his short-term contract at Brentford expires this month, though the Bees are determined to keep hold of the 30-year-old and have submitted a contract offer.
The Denmark international is settled in London and Sky Sports are reporting that Eriksen has reservations about relocating to the north west, despite a more lucrative proposal from Manchester United.
Erik ten Hag is keen to sign Eriksen as he looks to improve his midfield options at Old Trafford, having identified the free agent and Frenkie de Jong as his leading targets for the summer transfer window.
United can offer European football and higher wages than Brentford, though Eriksen’s decision will not be financially motivated.
He wants to assure regular first-team football ahead of Denmark’s World Cup campaign in Qatar, having missed out on the nation’s run to the semi-finals of the European Championship last summer after suffering a cardiac arrest in their first game of the tournament.
Brentford’s Danish connections – including manager Thomas Frank and a number of Eriksen’s international teammates – also leaves the Bees in a favourable position.
Tottenham had been interested in re-signing Eriksen, who spent six-and-a-half years with the north Londoners before leaving for Inter Milan in 2020.
However, he would have less assurances of regular midfield minutes with Spurs having already signed Yves Bissouma from Brighton this summer.
