Arsenal are reportedly interested in a deal to sign Ferland Mendy from Real Madrid this summer.
The France international is understood to be on Mikel Areta’s radar as the Gunners consider signing a left-back this summer, amid speculation surrounding Kieran Tierney’s future at the Emirates.
Tierney has been linked with an exit after losing his place in the side to Oleksandr Zinchenko this season and Newcastle are said to be preparing an offer for the Scotland defender.
According to The Sun, Mendy is on Arsenal’s list of potential replacements, though the European champion’s valuation of around £52m could make a deal difficult.
Arsenal want to strengthen their squad ahead of an anticipated return to the Champions League next season and are also targeting additions in midfield and at centre-forward.
Mendy has won two La Liga titles and the Champions League since signing for Real Madrid from Lyon in 2019, but the 27-year-old has made just 14 league starts for Carlo Ancelotti’s side this season due to a calf issue.
The defender – who has won nine caps for France at international level – has made 130 appearances in all competitions for Real Madrid.
