Mourinho offered £100 million deal to become football’s highest paid manager ever

Jose Mourinho has reportedly been offered a deal worth more than £100m to manage the Saudi Arabia national team, a contract that would make him the highest paid manager in football history.

Mourinho is understood to have received the record-breaking proposal amid uncertainty surrounding his future at Roma.

Mourinho won the Europa Conference League last season and the Italian side are fifth in Serie A and chasing Champions League qualification, but there has been no offer of a new contract from the Roma board. He is also said to have demanded investment this summer in order to continue on at the Stadio Olimpico.

The 60-year-old’s current deal at Roma expires at the end of next season, but Corriere dello Sport are reporting that he could have two Saudi proposals on the table.

In addition to the offer from the Saudi Arabian national side – a two-year deal worth £52m (€60m) each year – Mourinho could also be offered the chance to take over Al-Nassr.

Rudi Garcia is expected to leave the Saudi side at the end of the season and a move for Mourinho could see him reunite with Cristiano Ronaldo in the Middle East. Mourinho previously managed Ronaldo at Real Madrid, where the duo won the 2011/12 La Liga title in record-breaking fashion.
