Dortmund ‘in contact’ about interest in Chelsea trio

Borussia Dortmund are ‘in contact’ with Chelsea over three players as the Bundesliga side prepare a summer raid on Stamford Bridge.

Dortmund are considering attacking reinforcements as the Germans prepare to lose Erling Haaland at the end of the current campaign and are monitoring a trio of Chelsea players as the club consider forward additions.

TEAMtalk are reporting that Timo Werner, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Christian Pulisic are all on Dortmund’s radar, with each having struggled to cement their position in Thomas Tuchel’s plans in recent months.

Werner is understood to be considering his future after a difficult period in the Premier League, the forward having scored just six league goals during a disappointing debut season after his £47.5m arrival from RB Leipzig.

The Germany international enjoyed a prolific spell with Leipzig to score 78 goals in 127 league appearances for the club, but has struggled to replicate his Bundesliga form since moving to English football and has seen Romelu Lukaku arrive as Chelsea’s new number nine last summer.

Hudson-Odoi remains ‘highly-rated’ at Chelsea but has failed to build on a promising start to his career with the west Londoners, though impressed after being handed an opportunity during the club’s 7-0 thrashing of Norwich last weekend.

The 20-year-old has previously interested Bayern Munich and could be open to a departure if he is unable to win a regular role in Tuchel’s side this season.

Pulisic’s progress has been hindered by a succession of injury issues since signing for Chelsea and the US international has made just one Premier League appearance so far this season.

The 23-year-old is currently recovering from an ankle problem and will hope to gain some momentum upon his return to the side.

Dortmund will continue to monitor the situation of their former player, however, with Pulisic having spent four seasons with the Bundesliga side before making a £58m move to Chelsea in 2019.
