Real Madrid make Bellingham ‘primary target’

Real Madrid have made Jude Bellingham their ‘primary target’ ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Spanish side are in the race to sign Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund in 2023 and have made the midfielder their leading transfer target.

Dortmund are expected to receive several offers for Bellingham next summer and Marca are reporting that Real Madrid are ready to rival the Premier League interest in the England international as the club look to continue signing Europe’s best prospects.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side have looked towards the future in terms of recent recruitment, with the likes of Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo, Fede Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni having arrived in recent windows to form the long-term spine of the side.

Bellingham is next on the club’s wish-list, having shown an initial interest in the 19-year-old last summer. Liverpool will offer strong competition for his signature, while Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City have all been linked.

Dortmund are keen to tie Bellingham down to a new deal, but he has so far been reluctant to extend a contract which runs until 2025. There is currently no release clause in his deal at the Westfalenstadion however, with interested sides expected to pay a fee in excess of £100m.

Bellingham has made more than a century of appearances for Dortmund since joining the club from Birmingham City in 2020 and has earned 17 caps for England since his senior debut.

The teenager made 44 appearances in all competitions for Dortmund last season, in which he scored six goals and laid on a further 14 assists.
