TAA lauds ‘outstanding’ and ‘underrated’ Rashford

Trent Alexander-Arnold has hailed Marcus Rashford as ‘outstanding’ and believes the England forward is ‘underrated’.

Rashford scored twice as England booked their place in the World Cup last 16 with a 3-0 win over Wales on Tuesday evening, with the Manchester United forward now the joint-leading scorer in Qatar on three goals.

Rashford’s return to form has been welcomed for club and country after a difficult period, having hit the ground running under new manager Erik ten Hag at club level.

The 25-year-old had lost his place for both Manchester United and England last season, but is back in form and Alexander-Arnold has hailed the talent of his Three Lions teammate.

The right-back discussed Rashford’s qualities and believes the forward has the ability to win games for club and country.

“When he steps onto the pitch, you’re thinking he’s going to use his pace, he’s going to use his speed to get in behind, to get at people. He’s skilful, he can score goals, he can create goals,” he told talkSPORT.

“He’s someone, as defenders, you don’t want to play against players like that because all game you’re worried about what they’re going to do, if they’re going to score, if they’re going to create.

“To have him on your team, you know what defenders are thinking. He’s an outstanding player. I think he’s underrated, I think he’s someone that can win games for club and country.

“He has shown that before and I’m sure he’ll carry on and do that. I think he’s someone that can help us win this tournament.”
