Premier League clubs circle for wantaway Lorient midfielder

Enzo Le Fee’s decision to leave Lorient this summer has alerted several Premier League clubs.

Le Fee has expressed a desire to leave Lorient at the end of the season after the club failed to propose a contract extension to the highly-rated midfielder, with Leicester leading the chase.

The Foxes are understood to view Le Fee as a potential replacement for Youri Tielemans as the midfielder approaches the end of his contract, but 90min are reporting that Leicester will face strong competition after Fulham and Wolves ‘voiced interest’ in the 23-year-old.

Liverpool, Brighton, Tottenham and Newcastle are also said to have tracked the playmaker’s progress in Ligue 1, where he has scored four goals and laid on a further five assists in 28 league appearances for Lorient this season.

A creative midfielder who doesn’t shy from defensive work, Le Fee ranks second in Ligue 1 for tackles this season and ranks highly for touches (4th), successful take-ons (4th), key passes (6th) and through balls (5th).

The midfielder – whose contract at Lorient expires in 2024 – recently discussed his desire to move on this summer.

“It’s time for me to leave,” Le Fee told regional daily Le Télégramme, as per Ligue1.com.

“I have a special bond with the club and that’s why I wanted to extend my contract at the start of the season.

“I waited for a contract offer from FC Lorient until December. It never came. Now I don’t expect anything from the club and I won’t extend my contract. I hope to leave this summer so that my transfer will bring money to FC Lorient.”
