Blow for Premier League clubs as Real Madrid insist Tchouameni is not for sale

Real Madrid have insisted that Aurelien Tchouameni is not for sale despite the midfielder’s mixed first season with the club.

Tchouameni has lost his place in the side to Eduardo Camavinga of late and has completed the entire 90 minutes on just 11 occasions since his high-profile move from Monaco last summer.

The Frenchman arrived in an €80m deal as a replacement for Casemiro following the latter’s move to Manchester United, but has struggled to cement his place in Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

Premier League clubs are understood to be monitoring his situation with Liverpool having been linked with a move to sign the 23-year-old last summer, but AS are reporting that Real Madrid have no intention of selling Tchouameni and remain confident he will adapt at the Bernabeu.

The midfielder is viewed as a long-term part of the clubs plans and the Spaniards hope that Tchouameni will follow in the footsteps of Luka Modric and Eder Militao, who endured difficult starts to their careers with the club before emerging as central figures.

Tchouameni has made 37 appearances in all competitions this season and also formed part of the France team that reached the World Cup final in Qatar.

He started the season in promising fashion, but has struggled for form and favour since the season’s restart. He has featured for just 12 minutes across Real Madrid’s last two Champions League games.
