Chelsea ‘interested’ in signing Sadio Mane

Chelsea have been linked with a move to sign Sadio Mane from Bayern Munich as the club look to solve their goalscoring issues.

Mane’s future at Bayern is uncertain following a mixed first season with the Bundesliga champions. The Senegal international signed for the Germans in a deal worth up to £35m from Liverpool last summer, but has scored just seven league goals and has struggled to command a regular role since Thomas Tuchel’s arrival as manager in March.

The 31-year-old was alleged to have punched teammate Leroy Sane following Bayern’s 3-0 defeat at Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-finals and could be allowed to move on this summer, with Chelsea reportedly interested in a deal to bring the forward back to the Premier League.

The west Londoners have struggled for goals this season with only Wolves, Everton and Southampton having scored less than Chelsea in the Premier League.

According to German journalist Christian Falk, Bayern would be willing to negotiate a sale and Chelsea are among the clubs interested in a potential deal.

“FC Bayern is looking for a buyer for Sadio Mané,” Falk told Caught Offside.

“A trade with (Victor) Osimhen would be appreciated but is unrealistic. Mané is said to earn €12m net in Munich. Naples doesn’t pay that.

“In Munich, however, people took notice, as it is said that Chelsea are interested in signing Mané. FC Bayern would be willing to negotiate if asked.”
