Juventus and Barcelona to rival Premier League clubs for Zaha

Juventus and Barcelona will rival Premier League interest in Wilfried Zaha as the forward approaches the end of his contract at Crystal Palace.

Zaha is set to become a free agent this summer and has so far failed to agree terms on a new deal at Palace. The Eagles have proposed an extension that would make Zaha the highest-paid player in the club’s history, but the 30-year-old might feel this summer represents his last chance to sign for a club competing in Europe.

The Ivorian has made 456 appearances for Palace since progressing from the club’s academy, spending his entire career with the South Londoners barring an unsuccessful short stint at Manchester United.

Palace have fought to keep hold of the winger in recent transfer windows, but will be powerless to prevent Zaha from leaving this summer should he not sign a new deal and Europe’s top clubs are considering an approach for the free agent.

According to the Telegraph, Juventus and Barcelona are weighing up moves to sign Zaha as a cost-efficient addition, while long-term admirers Arsenal and Chelsea have not ruled out the prospect of signing the forward on a free this summer.

Arsenal were interested in a deal to sign Zaha in 2019, but instead signed Nicolas Pepe from Lille in a £72m club-record deal.

Zaha scored during Palace’s 4-3 win over West Ham at the weekend, a result which effectively confirmed the club’s Premier League safety for another season. He now faces a decision on whether to continue with his boyhood club next season or take on a new challenge.
