Liverpool talks for Dominik Szoboszlai ‘very advanced’

Liverpool are in ‘very advanced’ talks to sign Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig with negotiations progressing to the ‘final stages’.

Liverpool are chasing a deal to sign the Hungary international as Jurgen Klopp looks to add to his midfield options and the Reds are negotiating a fee with the Bundesliga side.

Szoboszlai is understood to be keen on the move to the Premier League after an excellent season for Leipzig, in which he scored 10 goals and provided 13 assists in 46 appearances across all competitions.

The 22-year-old’s contract contains a release clause of €70m (£60m), but the clause expires on June 30. Fabrizio Romano has reported that Liverpool and Leipzig are negotiating a fee for the midfielder who has emerged as a ‘top target’ for the Reds’ recruitment team.

Newcastle had been interested in a deal to sign Szoboszlai, but Liverpool now lead the race to sign the creative midfielder.

Liverpool are set to allow Fabio Carvalho to sign on loan for Leipzig ahead of the coming campaign, with the 20-year-old have undergone a medical with the German side on Thursday. That deal is is not related to the club’s interest in Szoboszlai and will not include a buy option.
