Tottenham ‘open’ to transfer of midfielder

Tottenham are open to allowing Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to leave the club this summer amid interest in the midfielder from Atletico Madrid.

Hojbjerg has been a regular for Tottenham since signing for the north Londoners from Southampton and made 44 appearances for the club in all competitions last season.

Despite that prominent role, new manager Ange Postecoglou is reportedly willing to let the Denmark international leave this summer should a suitable offer arrive.

The Athletic are reporting that Spurs have not received any approaches for the 27-year-old, but Atletico Madrid are understood to be considering a move. Hojbjerg has two years remaining on his current contract at Spurs, but could move on during the current window.

Spurs have Yves Bissouma and Rodrigo Bentancur as alternative options in central midfield, while Oliver Skipp and Pape Matar Sarr will hope to continue their development and earn regular roles in the side.

Spurs are also in negotiations with Leicester over the sale of Harry Winks. The 27-year-old spent last season on loan at Sampdoria and is closing in on a move to the relegated Foxes for a fee of £10m.
