Ziyech move from Chelsea to Al Nassr off after failed medical

Hakim Ziyech’s move from Chelsea to Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr is off after a knee problem was discovered during the winger’s medical.

Ziyech was set to sign for Al Nassr on a lucrative deal after falling out of favour at Chelsea, but a knee issue raised during the player’s medical has now seen the deal fall through.

The Daily Mail are reporting that Chelsea were set to receive a fee of £8m for the Morocco international, while Ziyech was in line to earn £9m net per season as part of the transfer to Saudi Arabia.

Ziyech would have linked up with Cristiano Ronaldo at Al Nassr, as Saudi sides continue to invest in attracting overseas talent.

Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) has taken ownership of the country’s four leading football clubs, Al-Ittihad, Al-Ahli, Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal, in a bid to grow the nation’s domestic league.

Ziyech struggled for regular first-team football last season and made just six starts in the Premier League for Chelsea.

The 30-year-old agreed terms to leave the west Londoners on loan for Paris Saint-Germain during the January transfer window, but saw that deal collapse after late paperwork caused the deal to not be registered by the French football governing body (LFP).
