Bernardo hails ‘one of the best’ performances as Man City cruise to derby win

Bernardo Silva has hailed ‘one of the best’ performances from Manchester City as the champions cruised to a 3-0 win at Manchester United.

Pep Guardiola’s side made light work of their city neighbours to earn a convincing win at Old Trafford, with Erling Haaland’s brace and a Phil Foden strike earning the Citizens three points.

City’s win was their fifth in the last six meetings with Manchester United in all competitions, with the latter having now lost five of their 10 Premier League games this season.

Silva – who was named man of the match after a standout performance in midfield – was delighted with the performance from City and said the comprehensive result was ‘definitely one of the best performances’ from Guardiola’s side.

“It was good game for us. Apart from a few simple balls we lost we didn’t give them much to counter,” the Portugal international told Sky Sports.

“The first 30 mins of the second half we were really good. The way we pressed, what we lacked against Arsenal, we were fabulous. Congratulations to the big man too!

“When we come to these places, like Anfield and Old Trafford, we know what teams are waiting for – for us to lose the ball and counter. It is about the build up, not losing simple balls and controlling the game and being slow in the first metres of our half and goal kicks. After then it is about breaking through to attack. It is never easy to come here to beat this team.

“It is definitely one of the best wins. To win 3-0 away with this crowd, I think it is definitely one of the best performances.”
