Nuno reveals Nottingham Forest ‘secret’ following ‘deserved’ Man Utd win

Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo says his side were fully deserving of their first win over Manchester United since 1994.

Nicolas Dominguez broke the deadlock in the 64th minute of Saturday’s night clash at the City Ground. But Marcus Rashford equalised with just his third Premier League goal of the season.

Forest retook the lead almost immediately as former Man United winger Anthony Elanga set up Morgan Gibbs-White for what was ultimately the winning goal.

The Portuguese coach, who has won two out of his first three games since replacing Steve Cooper as Reds manager, was keen to point the spotlight away from himself and make sure his squad received all the kudos.

“The secret is the way the players are working,” Nuno told BBC Radio 5 Live. “We are here 11 days so the credit is for them and the way they fight as a team.

“I think we started good and had good tempo. We controlled Manchester United. They have a lot of talent and we didn’t allow them the space to play and I think it was a deserved win.”

Forest have now completed back-to-wins in the Premier League for the first time this season after beating Newcastle and Man United in the space of five days.

“When you perform well and play good, the confidence has to grow. We are starting to feel that we have some talent and we are improving. It is easier when you play well.”

Gary Neville named Gibbs-White the player of the match after putting one of his best performances of the season.

“He is playing well and growing each day and I am very happy for him. He deserves it,” Nuno said.
