Gallagher to stay at Chelsea despite Spurs interest

Conor Gallagher is set to stay at Chelsea with ‘no movement’ regarding a potential exit for the midfielder.

Tottenham have been linked with a move to sign Gallagher, as the North Londoners look to capitalise on Chelsea’s need to bring in funds.

Gallagher, whose contract has 18 months to run, has been mentioned as a potential casualty of the club’s recent spending, with Chelsea at risk of breaching the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules.

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Spurs are admirers of the 23-year-old, though no negotiations have taken place between the London rivals. Romano has reported there have been no discussions regarding Gallagher’s future in January and the England international will stay at Stamford Bridge.

Gallagher’s future could be a talking point in the summer, when he will have just a year to run on his contract. The midfielder has been a prominent figure in Mauricio Pochettino’s side this season, though his sale would count as 100% profit for the Blues given his status as an academy product.

Armando Broja is one academy name who could move on before the deadline, however. The Albanian has been subject of approaches from Wolves and Fulham, with each interested in a loan deal to sign the striker before the 11pm deadline for business.
