Broja opens up on decision to choose Fulham over Premier League rivals

Armando Broja has opened up on his decision to choose Fulham after completing a loan move to the club from Chelsea on transfer deadline day.

Broja was a transfer target for several Premier League clubs with Wolves having seen an approach turned down, while both Aston Villa and West Ham were linked with a move.

The 22-year-old instead chose to sign for Chelsea’s West London neighbours, Fulham, and has opened up on his reasons for moving to Craven Cottage.

“It’s not easy when there’s a lot of talk around you and stuff. I had multiple talks with my family, my agent, and I felt Fulham was the best club that suited me,” Broja told Fulham’s media team.

“They’ve had some good number nines here, (Aleksandar) Mitrovic was here, (Raul) Jimenez, so for me it was an easy one. I said to my parents ‘I want to go there, I want to play, I want to help the team as much as possible and score as many goals as I can’. I was here when I was seven and have now come back, so it’s gone full circle.”

Broja has scored twice in 19 appearances so far this season, including a goal in Chelsea’s win at Fulham earlier this season. The Albania international hopes he can contribute goals to Marco Silva’s side, as he looks for regular minutes over the second half of the campaign.

“I was watching a lot of clips before this move happened, watching a lot of games this season that involved Fulham and I really enjoyed the way the manager has the team playing.

“For me, I want to just help out the team and manager as much as I can. I want to score goals and make assists, and work my socks off for the team. I know I’m coming back from a big injury, but I want to stake my claim and show everybody what I’m really about.”
