Barcelona reject Premier League bid for Brazil winger

Barcelona have rejected a bid from an unnamed Premier League club for Brazil winger Raphinha.

Raphinha continues to be linked with an exit from the Spanish side in the summer as Barcelona look to combat their economic issues, despite an encouraging run of form in recent weeks.

Barcelona are understood to have exceeded the spending cap imposed on the club by La Liga by around €200m and could require significant sales at the end of the campaign. Raphinha is viewed as a saleable asset for the Catalans with considerable interest in the 27-year-old from Saudi Arabia and England.

The Brazil international previously enjoyed a successful two-season spell at Leeds United before moving to Barcelona of £55m in 2022 and several Premier League sides are interested in bringing him back to the division.

According to Spanish outlet Diario Sport, Barcelona have turned down a bid of €60m (£51.2m) from an unnamed Premier League side.

La Blaugrana remain open to a sale, with Ferran Torres and Lamine Yamal wide options, and Joao Felix’s loan move from Atletico Madrid expected to be made permanent, but will want to make profit on their initial investment.

Manchester United have been linked amid Antony and Jadon Sancho’s struggle to make an impact at Old Trafford, while Chelsea and Arsenal each approached Leeds over a deal for Raphinha before his move to Barcelona. Tottenham and Liverpool could also be in the market for wide attackers this summer.
