Colwill aiming for England place at Euro 2024

Levi Colwill says he is aiming to be in the England team ahead of next summer’s European Championship, following his first call-up to the senior side.

The centre-back has been included in Gareth Southgate’s squad for this month’s international fixtures, where the Three Lions will take on Ukraine in a Euro 2024 qualifier on September 9, before facing Scotland in a friendly three days later.

Colwill has impressed since returning to Chelsea from a successful loan spell at Brighton last season and starred as England’s u-21 side won the European Championship during the summer, with the Young Lions crowned champions without conceding a single goal.

The 20-year-old will now hope to get his chance to impress in the senior side this month and is aiming to earn a prominent role ahead of next summer’s major tournament. Southgate’s side are on course to reach the Euros having won all four of their qualification fixtures to date.

“Of course. Playing for Chelsea – one of the biggest clubs in the world – it’s got to be my aim to hopefully be in the England team come the Euros,” Colwill said, as per Sky Sports.

“Obviously it’s still a long time until that comes so I’ve just got to keep working hard, pushing myself and let’s see what happens next.”
